Potion is a game that you win when you figure out who you are. Who are you? Are you a thief? Are you a gardener, a snake charmer or an alchemist? You must grow ingredients to distill a potion that will allow you to cross the ocean and find the mountain.

This game is also an open source project – an all-permissive license –  and the project and model files are available on GitHub. Anyone can take any aspect of the game and mash it up into a new game. Our copyright waiver is as follows:

The author of this work hereby waives all claim of copyright (economic and moral) in this work and immediately places it in the public domain; it may be used, distorted or destroyed in any manner whatsoever without further attribution or notice to the creator. Reuse in any manner desired, even without naming the source. This usage does not try to guarantee that future versions of the game will remain free and publicly available.

As Woody Guthrie said in his copyleft statement: ”We wrote it, that’s all we wanted to do.” We just want to make games and help artists make video games of their own.

This is a community project about expanding the medium of video game creation – as an art form – to the larger art community and making it a less elite endeavor. We would like to help build partnerships between artists and engineers that move video games and digital art forward by making it more accessible to non programmers.

There is an LARP version of this game. Ask for a starter packet and passcode if you meet us IRL. Contact us to learn more.
